One of the biggest questions we’ve been getting about the new HIKMICRO NEOS series is:
“What are the differences between the models, and which one should I choose?”
The new NEOS range has been designed to offer lightweight, traditional-style thermal rifle scopes with modern thermal performance, excellent image quality and practical features for Australian hunters and pest controllers.
The current range includes:
- NE25
- NH25L
- NH35L
All three models feature:
- Ultra-sensitive thermal sensors under 18mK NETD
- Image Pro 3.0 processing
- HSIS shutterless imaging
- AMOLED display
- Compact 30mm tube design
- Internal recording
- Fast startup
- IP67 weather protection
So what’s the difference?
NE25 – The Entry-Level All Rounder
The NE25 is the lightest and most affordable model in the lineup.
Key specs:
- 256×192 sensor
- 25mm lens
- 1200m detection range
- 3.5x base magnification
- 9.5 hour battery life
- 540g weight
Best suited for:
- Rabbit control
- Farm scanning
- Air rifle use
- Rimfire setups
- Hunters wanting a simple thermal scope
If you mainly shoot shorter distances and want a lightweight thermal without extra complexity, the NE25 makes a lot of sense.
NH25L – The Best All-Round Choice
The NH25L steps things up with:
- Higher 320×240 sensor resolution
- Built-in laser rangefinder
- Ballistic calculation
- Same compact 25mm platform
- 1200m detection range
Best suited for:
- Fox control
- General pest control
- Shooters wanting more precision
- Hunters wanting an all-in-one setup
For many hunters, this will probably be the sweet spot in the range. You get noticeably better image detail plus the added confidence of a built-in LRF without a huge jump in size or weight.
NH35L – The Long-Range Performer
The NH35L is the top-tier NEOS model.
Key upgrades include:
- 384×288 thermal sensor
- Larger 35mm lens
- 1800m detection range
- Built-in laser rangefinder
- Ballistic calculation
- Improved long-range detail
Best suited for:
- Long-range foxing
- Large open paddocks
- Centrefire rifles
- Hunters chasing maximum image detail
If you spend most of your time shooting larger properties or scanning longer distances, the NH35L is the clear standout.
Quick Comparison
| Model | Sensor | Lens | Detection Range | LRF | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NE25 | 256×192 | 25mm | 1200m | No | Entry-level & close-medium range |
| NH25L | 320×240 | 25mm | 1200m | Yes | Best all-rounder |
| NH35L | 384×288 | 35mm | 1800m | Yes | Long-range performance |
Our Thoughts
After looking through the specs and early feedback, here’s how we see the lineup:
- NE25 = Best budget entry into thermal hunting
- NH25L = Best balance of performance, size and features
- NH35L = Best option for serious long-range hunting
The biggest thing with the new NEOS range is how compact and lightweight they are while still delivering strong thermal performance. The traditional riflescope style design is also a massive plus for hunters wanting a more familiar setup.
