NOCPIX ACE 2 H50R – Lighter, Sharper and Seriously Impressive in the Upper Hunter

We put the new ACE 2 H50R to work — and it didn't disappoint.

When NOCPIX released the new ACE 2 H50R, we were keen to get it out of the shop and into the field.

There's only one way we really like to test thermal gear at Good Hunt Australia — use it for the jobs we actually do.

Recently, we took the new NOCPIX ACE 2 H50R into the Upper Hunter Valley, NSW, during a pig-control operation, putting it through its paces in real conditions rather than simply looking at specifications on a screen.

And the first thing that stood out?

🔥 IT'S LIGHT — REALLY LIGHT.

Anyone who spends hours carrying and using thermal equipment knows that weight matters.

The ACE 2 H50R is 25% lighter than the previous generation and weighs under 1 kg, thanks to its magnesium-alloy construction.

That difference is immediately noticeable when you're moving around a property for extended periods.

Less weight means less fatigue, easier handling and a setup that feels much more comfortable when you're spending hours in the field.

For professional pest-control work, that's a big deal.

👀 AND THEN THERE'S THE IMAGE...

This is where the ACE 2 H50R really grabbed our attention.

We've used the original ACE H50R extensively, so we had a very good reference point.

Putting the ACE 2 beside what we're used to seeing from the V1, the improvement in image sharpness, detail and overall clarity is noticeable.

The new ACE 2 H50R features a 640 × 512 thermal sensor, ≤12 mK NETD, 60 Hz frame rate and a 50 mm F0.9 objective lens.

But specifications only tell part of the story.

Out in the Upper Hunter, what mattered was how easily we could pick up animals against the surrounding terrain and vegetation.

The image was exceptionally clean, with excellent thermal separation and impressive detail.

🔥 R+ 2.0 IMAGING

NOCPIX has upgraded the ACE 2 with its R+ 2.0 imaging system, designed to deliver sharper detail and cleaner images in difficult thermal conditions.

From our time using it in the field, we reckon you'll notice the difference straight away if you've used the original ACE.

🎯 50MM OBJECTIVE + 3–24X MAGNIFICATION

The H50R isn't designed simply to find animals.

It's built to give you the ability to observe and identify targets at distance.

The ACE 2 H50R provides 3–24× magnification, with the 50 mm F0.9 objective providing plenty of thermal performance when conditions get challenging.

During the pig-control operation, that combination gave us a very useful balance between field of view and identification detail.

And when you need to zoom in, that's where the Ocular Zoom 2.0 comes into play.

NOCPIX has introduced a hybrid zoom system designed to maintain detail while providing a more natural viewing experience.

📏 BUILT-IN LRF + BALLISTIC CALCULATION

The ACE 2 H50R also brings an upgraded Integrated LRF 2.0 and Ballistic Calculation 2.0 system.

NOCPIX states that the new LRF system provides 11% sharper optics and up to 57% faster ranging in challenging conditions compared with the previous system.

For us, having ranging and ballistic functionality integrated into the unit keeps the setup clean and simple.

🐗 REAL FIELD TEST — UPPER HUNTER VALLEY NSW

This wasn't a backyard test.

The ACE 2 H50R went straight into a real pig-control operation in the Upper Hunter Valley, where thermal performance, target identification and portability all mattered.

After spending time behind the ACE 2, our biggest takeaway was simple:

NOCPIX has taken something that was already very good and made it lighter, sharper and more refined.

The reduction in weight is immediately noticeable.

The image improvement compared with the original ACE H50R is also something we noticed straight away.
